Dance Masters of California has established a college scholarship program to be awarded at our Spring Convention.
GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS:
The scholarship program is open to seniors in high school, and college undergraduates pursuing any field of study.
Applicants must be a student of a DMC member in good standing.
Said student must have studied with member teacher for a period of not less than three – (3) years.
Grade point average for high school seniors must be a minimum of 2.8.
College undergraduates must have a grade point average of 2.8 or above.
Each applicant will write a short one-page essay describing his or her future goals and what role dance has played in their life.
A copy of the current year transcript must accompany the application form.
Scholarship may be awarded a maximum of twice to the same recipient.
Finalists will be selected based on submitted application materials.
All finalists will be interviewed on Friday or Saturday of the spring convention weekend for application year.
Finalists must attend the showcase. If a finalist is awarded a scholarship and is not present, the scholarship award will be forfeited.
GUIDELINES FOR AWARDING SCHOLARSHIP:
The amount of scholarship monies to be awarded shall be determined by the Board of Directors of DMC.
The President of DMC shall appoint a committee of three members to review applications and interview finalists. The committee recommendations shall be presented to the board. The board will then award the scholarship monies based on the committee’s recommendation.
Scholarship recipient must submit proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university prior to being awarded.
